Toronto pop-rock singer LØLØ is getting an early start on the holiday season with two new releases, unveiling the original song “mall santa” and a cover of the Christmas classic “silent night”.
Released through Fearless Records, “mall santa” puts the Canadian singer’s signature heartbreak-driven songwriting in a fittingly seasonal setting.
“‘mall santa’ is about being so heartbroken and desperate, that you are willing to try anything…including trauma dumping on a random man dressed as Santa Claus,” LØLØ said, explaining the inspiration behind the song. “I loved the idea of taking a really sad and pathetic feeling and putting it in such a ridiculous setting, because that’s how heartbreak feels a lot of the time,” she added.
The second release, “silent night,” offers a more melancholy take on the traditional Christmas carol, pairing the familiar holiday song with LØLØ’s own interpretation.
The double release follows “pretty little wreck,” a standalone single she released in August, and her second studio album, god forbid a girl spits out her feelings!, which arrived in April. The 13-track record includes songs such as “007,” “the punisher” and “delusional darling.”
