Kali Uchis Announces New LP ‘Orquídeas Parte 2’

Kali Uchis Announces New LP ‘Orquídeas Parte 2’

Kali Uchis will release Orquídeas Parte 2, a follow-up to her album Orquídeas, on Aug. 9. The singer revealed the news in an Instagram Reel, although it’s unclear whether it’s a collection of new songs or remixes of the tracks off Orquídeas, which arrived in January.

The reel is soundtrack by a version of “Young Rich & In Love” remixed by Kaytranada, suggesting the latter. “orquídeas parte 2 next Friday 8/9 ,” Uchis wrote in the caption. “Young rich & in love – the Kaytranada version.”

Orquídeas saw Uchis collaborating with Peso Pluma, Karol G, City Girls’ JT, and Rauw Alejandro, among others. The singer said she wanted to each track to have its own vibe, telling Rolling Stone, “I feel like every song really is its own era and its own aesthetic.”

When you aren’t just one thing and you are as multidimensional of an artist as I am, I think it’s a lot harder for people to figure out how to sell me as a product,” Uchis told Rolling Stone earlier this year. “But I think they don’t realize that being multidimensional is a lot of different people’s experiences… I’m not going to compromise who I am or what I’m doing or show only just this one tiny piece of myself.”

In March, Uchis’ partner Don Toliver released a video for his song “Deep in the Water,” on which he sings about his promise of love to Uchis and their newborn baby boy. The video spliced clips of the artist in a blue-hued room and Uchis holding their newborn as he sings the chorus: “Deep in the water, far as I can see/Deep in the water, through your pregnancy.”

Nicki Minaj’s MAGA Posting Spree Boosted by Bots, New Report Claims

Nicki Minaj’s MAGA turn has been partly fueled by an army of bot accounts on X, according to a new report shared with Politico.

Put together by the disinformation company Cyabra, the report analyzed engagement tied to 51 “political-related posts” on Minaj’s X account between Nov. 11 and Dec. 22, just as the rapper was cementing her new place as a right-wing darling. Of the more than 55,000 profiles interacting with these posts, Cyabra found at least 33 percent (nearly 19,000) were likely fake. The established benchmarks for fake accounts present in “organic social media discourse” typically ranges between seven and 10 percent, the report noted.

Kanye West Mansion Trial Begins Next Week As Judge Issues ‘Revealing Clothing’ Warning

When a construction worker’s lawsuit over Kanye West’s troubled Malibu mansion project kicks off in a Los Angeles courtroom this week, everyone better be dressed appropriately, a judge warned Friday.

The judge didn’t mention any potential rule-breakers by name, but West, now known as Ye, famously sold T-shirts emblazoned with swastikas, while his wife Bianca Censori once wore an “invisible dress” made from pantyhose material on the Grammys red carpet. The rapper and his wife are both expected to testify at the trial, which is scheduled to last 12 days. It’s also possible Censori will sit at the defense table as a representative of her husband’s company, the couple’s lawyer, Andrew Cherkasky, said on Friday.

Hilary Duff Is Ready for Her Pop Return

As a former child star, Hilary Duff is often asked how she turned out OK. Maybe it’s because of the 38-year-old actress-singer’s self-described “trad wife” tendencies: She’s happiest at home in Los Angeles, tending to her four children and her backyard chickens, making sourdough bread and crocheting. But the reality is more complicated. “It’s easy to look at me from the outside and be like, ‘She’s so balanced and grounded and has seemed to figure it out,’” she says over Zoom in late January. “But there’s been a lot of ups and downs and struggles.”

She answers the same question with her first album in more than a decade, Luck … or Something, out Feb. 20 via Atlantic. The title derives from the synth-heavy stunner “Adult Size Medium,” where she sings, “How did we get here?/Was it luck or something?” “I am happy with who I am,” she adds. “But the ‘or something’ is really the meat of the answer.”
