Kneecap dropped a new single, “Smugglers & Scholars,” which reflects on the past state of revolution in Ireland. The hard-hitting track comes off the Belfast trio’s forthcoming LP, Fenian, out April 24 via Heavenly Recordings.

“Smugglers and scholars/ Getting guns with American dollars,” the group raps. “Did it before do it again no bother/ Don’t need your help with internal matters.”

Kneecap explained in a statement that the song is “a track that’s reminiscing on revolutionary times in Ireland, driven by a hopefulness, when the working class, academics and good people everywhere united and took action in search of a better future.”

Fenian marks the group’s first album since a series of polarizing political statements threatened to derail their career. “They tried to stop us by branding Kneecap ‘terrorists’, with cancellations, with statements from the Prime Minister himself,” the group said in a statement. “We had all the motivation we needed… this isn’t a swift reaction, but a considered response to those that tried to silence us. And failed.”

The musicians previously shared “Liar’s Tale” alongside a politically-themed music video. The single took aim at British prime minister Keir Starmer, who condemned Kneecap after they displayed the messages “Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people” and “Fuck Israel / Free Palestine” at Coachella 2025.

“You think we’d move on and forget what happened,” the group sings on the track. “Nah fuck Keir Starmer, Netanyahu’s bitch and genocide armer, better off as compost for farmers.”

Kneecap will tour Europe and the U.K. in support of Fenian this summer. The group is set for several festivals, including Primavera in Barcelona and Porto, Roskilde Festival in Denmark, and Reading & Leeds Festivals in England.

Bleachers Reminisce About House Shows and DIY Tours on New Song ‘The Van’

Bleachers end up playing an impromptu house show in the new music video for “The Van,” the latest offering from the Jack Antonoff-led outfit’s upcoming LP, Everyone for Ten Minutes.

“The Van” sits solidly in that classic category of Bleachers songs in which Antonoff ruminates on his early days as a musician and leaving home for the first time. Over a steady drum groove and a heady mix of horns and harmonica, Antonoff recalls Wawa pitstops, gigs at Wayne Firehouse (an old underground venue in New Jersey), and a fateful tour that solidified his musical ambitions.

BTS Is Back on Top: ‘We Have to Push It to the Edge’

When RM is going through an existential crisis, which is pretty often, he might think of the words of Rainer Maria Rilke, or maybe the lyrics of Tyler, the Creator. BTS’ leader loves that other poetically inclined RM, and keeps coming back to an oft-quoted section of his 1905 poem “Go to the Limits of Your Longing”: “Let everything happen to you/Beauty and terror/Just keep going/No feeling is final.” In other words, just swim.

Lying in his cold army bunk, scalp buzzed close, struggling with 18 unrelenting months of insomnia during mandatory military service, RM would listen to Don Toliver, to Playboi Carti, to Dijon’s debut, to Joji’s ballad “Past Won’t Leave My Bed.” When the lyrics got his brain humming with too many ideas for his own, he’d switch to streaming classical and ambient music. But he really latched onto Tyler’s “Darling, I,” and the chorus phrase “Forever is too long.” Tyler and Teezo Touchdown were singing about dodging monogamy at all costs, but RM teased out his own, deeper meaning. “Maybe at that time, the military felt too long for me,” RM says. “I just kept singing the phrase all the time. And I was being healed just by singing along to it.”
