Central Cee and EsDeeKid have some new competition in the London rap scene: Sacha Baron Cohen‘s Ali G will return in the Amazon MGM Studios film Ali G: Who Iz I?, in theaters Oct. 23.
Baron Cohen revealed the official title and release date for the movie in an Instagram video delivered as the fictional character he first appeared as in 1998. He brushed up on the Jamaican patois he’s been mocking for years just for the occasion.
“Dey haz finally made a documentary about me,” the actor, for whom the film marks his feature directorial debut, captioned the post. “And it ain’t dat crap one about da penguins, dis one haz got at least twice as much animal sex. ‘Ali G: Who Iz I?’ Cominatcha on 10.23 wotever dat means.”
Earlier this month, Baron Cohen appeared at the Wimbledon finals dressed as Ali G with hopes to sell as much weed as possible during the match. “And if u iz at dis borin wimbledore final lookin 2 get grand slammed, I iz here wif de hookup,” he said on Instagram.
The surprise appearance marked a rare comeback for the character, who was last seen during a short bit on The Tonight Show in 2024, when he pretended to moderate a debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Baron Cohen also slipped back into Ali G mode in 2016 in a surprise appearance at the Academy Awards.
The first Ali G film, Ali G Indahouse, arrived in 2002. The movie dropped the signature mockumentary style Baron Cohen seemingly hopes to revive with Ali G: Who Iz I?
