Robert Thurman, father to actress Uma Thurman and the co-founder of the cultural institution Tibet House in New York City, has died at the age of 84.

Thurman’s death was announced via social media by Tibet House, which wrote, “We are deeply saddened to announce that Robert A.F. Thurman, prominent American Buddhist scholar, co-founder of Tibet House US, author and translator whose teachings shaped countless lives, died Tuesday morning, June 16, in Woodstock, New York.”

The post was captioned with the phrase “Om Mani Padme Hum,” a Sanskrit mantra that translates to “praise to the jewel in the lotus.” Thurman co-founded Tibet House in 1987 with the mission of preserving Tibetan culture. Over the years, the institution has hosted annual benefit concerts with appearances from artists like Patti Smith, FKA Twigs, David Byrne, Billy Corgan, and more.

On his website, Thurman is credited as “the first Westerner Tibetan Buddhist monk ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.” In a letter from the Dalai Lama, as shared by Tibet House, the Dalai Lama wrote, “As you know, Bob and I shared many years of warm friendship since we first met in India in the late 1960s. As a Buddhist scholar, his knowledge was truly remarkable, including his command of the Tibetan language. He devoted his entire professional life to sharing that knowledge, not only with his students, but with the wider world through his writings and teachings.”

He continued, “He understood profoundly that the survival of Tibetan Buddhist culture is inseparably linked to the future of Tibet itself. I greatly valued his efforts on behalf of the Tibetan people and their culture, expressed so visibly through institutions such as Tibet House. Bob lived a meaningful life and has left behind a legacy that will continue to inspire future students of Tibetan Buddhism and culture for generations to come. I am sure that the merit he accumulated through a lifetime of service to humanity will bear fruit in lives to come.”

Tom Holland Basically (Kind of) Confirms Zendaya Wedding

At long last, verifiable statements about Tom Holland and Zendaya’s long-rumored wedding have finally emerged, and this time straight from one of the two parties involved. Yes, we can finally confirm that the couple did get married recently… probably. We think.

The nuptials have been the subject of much speculation since Zendaya was seen at the 2025 Golden Globes wearing what looked like an engagement ring. Then, in March, Zendaya’s longtime stylist, Law Roach, claimed that the wedding had “already happened” during a red carpet interview.

Justin Baldoni to Pay Blake Lively’s Legal Fees in Final ‘It Ends With Us’ Ruling

A judge has ordered Justin Baldoni to pay Blake Lively‘s legal fees, though she is not entitled to extra damages related to the dismissal of his $400 million defamation suit against his former It Ends With Us co-star.

The dispute over damages and fees emerged alongside news that Lively and Baldoni had settled their contentious legal battle in early May, just before the case was set to go to trial. While the primary suit was settled with no monetary compensation for either side, Lively’s lawyers preserved their motion to pursue damages and fees related to the dismissal of Baldoni’s suit. They did so under California’s Weaponized Defamation Lawsuits Act, which was designed to protect accusers by imposing mandatory penalties against plaintiffs who filed unsuccessful defamation suits in response to misconduct complaints.

Frankie Grande Says Celine Dion ‘Peed’ Herself After Ariana’s TV Impression

It’s no secret Ariana Grande is very good at impressions. She has famously impersonated numerous fellow singers, including Britney Spears and Celine Dion, during appearances on shows like Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show. Her impression of Dion is so good, in fact, that the pop diva apparently laughed so hard at it that she “peed.”

Ariana’s brother Frankie Grande stopped by The Tonight Show last night to discuss his Broadway career and the Tonys, but also recounted meeting Dion right after his sister had mimicked her singing on The Tonight Show.

Jennifer Lawrence, Bravo Obsessive and Part-Time P.I., Found the ‘Summer House’ Leaker

Bravo announced in April that it would launch a full investigation into how audio from the Summer House reunion made it to the public. Fortuitously, an adroit private eye was available to help: Jennifer Lawrence.

On Tuesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen thanked the Oscar-winning actress for providing info that exposed the scofflaw staffer responsible for the leak. “A Bravo superfan provided some crucial information that helped confirm the source,” he said. “Well, with the last reunion episode having aired tonight, I wanted to personally thank that superfan. Folks, that superfan was indeed Jennifer Lawrence … Her online sleuthing helped our team of investigators solve this mystery.”
