Justin Timberlake will be revisiting his infamous 2004 Super Bowl incident with Janet Jackson in a new four-part docuseries set to rollout on Apple TV next month, according to Variety.

Sources described the December drop as a “tell-all” to the publication, and one source said it will feature Jackson discussing the “wardrobe malfunction” that happened during the pair’s halftime performance.

Reps for Timberlake, Jackson, and Apple did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone‘s requests for comment.

Timberlake and Jackson’s Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show has gone done in history as one of the most controversial performances on live television. Jackson, the headline performer, was joined in a song-and-dance routine by Timberlake, who punctuated the “Rock Your Body” refrain of “Gonna have you naked by the end of this song” by grabbing at Jackson’s costume and exposing her right breast. The network and Timberlake were quick to apologize, with Timberlake later calling the incident a “wardrobe malfunction” and distancing himself from the controversy as Jackson received the majority of the crushing blowback — the star was blacklisted from radio and her career was momentarily derailed following the incident. At the time, Timberlake received little repercussion, and even returned to the Super Bowl halftime show as a solo artist in 2017.

In 2021, following the recent release of the documentary Framing Britney Spears, the past was rehashed and Timberlake was criticized for his role amid the backlash against Jackson following the “Nipplegate” scandal. Timberlake publicly apologized to both Britney Spears and Janet Jackson. “I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed,” Timberlake said. “The industry is flawed. It sets men, especially white men, up for success. It’s designed this way. As a man in a privileged position, I have to be vocal about this. Because of my ignorance, I didn’t recognize it for all that it was while it was happening in my own life but I do not want to ever benefit from others being pulled down again.”

Brian May Clears Up Queen’s Live Future: ‘I’m on a Break’

Queen‘s Brian May has been spending a lot of time in his studio lately, from his work on the score to June’s Masters of the Universe (out soon on vinyl) to a collaboration with William Shatner. After decades of touring, he’s enjoying time at home, so he’s not anxious to play shows right now — but in a recent Zoom chat with Rolling Stone, he again made it clear that he’s not ruling it out. He also talked about Queen’s scores for Flash Gordon and Highlander, the newly restored Queen Budapest concert film, and more.
