Shakira, Madonna, and BTS will headline the first ever halftime show at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.

Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who curated this year’s artists, announced the news in a social media video alongside Sesame Street‘s Elmo and Cookie Monster with Kermit, Miss Piggie, and more beloved characters from The Muppets. The July 19 event will take place MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and raise funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative working to provide access to quality education and football for children worldwide.



Earlier this month, Shakira released “Dai Dai,” the official 2026 World Cup song with Burna Boy, and her second World Cup track following “Waka, Waka (This Time for Africa),” which she performed during the opening ceremony of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Meanwhile, Madonna is set return to the Tribeca Festival this summer with a new cinematic project tied to her forthcoming studio album, Confessions II, arriving July 3. The pop star live-debuted the LP’s lead single “Bring Your Love” during Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining Weekend Two set at Coachella.

BTS also made a comeback earlier this year with the March release of their sixth studio album, Arirang, their first LP in nearly four years after all seven members fulfilled their mandatory military service in South Korea. BTS brought their Arirang world tour to North America in April with the first of three sold-out nights at Tampa, Florida’s Raymond James Stadium.

Last week, FIFA announced that Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, Lisa, Rema, and Tyla will headline the opening ceremony of the first World Cup game in the United States on June 12 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The U.S. will face Paraguay in the tournament’s opening match.

In Canada, Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatei, Sanjoy, Vegedream, and William Prince will take the stage to celebrate the opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Toronto’s BMO Field. And the opening ceremony in Mexico will include J Balvin, Tyla, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná, Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, and Danny Ocean before the tournament opener on June 11 between Mexico and South Africa at Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium.

Drake Denies Stealing 'Janice STFU' Chorus

Drake is facing a copyright infringement lawsuit from Grammy-winning songwriter Aviel Calev Hirschfield, who alleges the rapper copied a chorus he recorded and sent to producers in Drake’s circle months before the release of “Janice STFU,” according to TMZ. The complaint was filed October 16 in California federal court and names the Toronto rapper, OVO Sound, UMG Recordings and Universal Music Publishing as defendants.

Hirschfield, who records as GoodbyeCalev, claims he completed his demo around January 25, 2026, and sent it to production duo FnZ and other producers connected to Drake. He says the chorus on “Janice STFU,” released in May on Iceman, matches his recording in lyrics, melody and cadence.

Inside Madonna’s ‘Confessions II’: Producer Stuart Price Goes Deep on One of the Year’s Best Albums

Madonna was as ambitious as she’s ever been in the studio sessions for July 3’s Confessions II, which is saying a lot. For the sequel to 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor, she reunited with that album’s producer, Stuart Price, and crafted a relentless DJ set of an album that also includes some of her most emotionally bare songs: a duet with her daughter Lola (“The Test”) and wrenching songs about her late stepmother (“Betrayal”) and her late brother, Christopher Ciccone (“Fragile”). She brings her full pop firepower, too, on songs from the Sabrina Carpenter duet “Bring Your Love” to the Eighties reminiscence of “Danceteria.” It all helped win Madonna Artist of the Year at this year’s VMAs, where she opened the show with a guest-star-packed performance, her first on the awards show in 23 years.

For years, she psyched herself out of sharing what she was making. “It’s just so lame to be so afraid of what people think that you make all this music for years and never release it because you’re scared it’s not perfect or something,” she says. Releasing those first songs helped put the stakes in perspective: “If you drop a shitty EP, you’re going to be OK.”

Miley Cyrus addressed the criticism of her comeback show at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday night, calling out “clickbait” videos that accused her of not fully investing herself in the performance because she didn’t sing every word of the songs.

“I’ve never heard that I don’t put my heart into something,” she told the audience at her second Bowl concert on Sunday night. “I don’t know if any of you heard that,” she said of the criticism. “That somebody was doing commentary to get clickbait on their video talking about my show on Friday night, but I’m a lot of things and we’re not even going to entertain that.”
