New York was having a little too much fun celebrating the Knicks’ first NBA Finals appearance since 1999 — so Donald Trump had to crash the party.

The president threw Midtown Manhattan and Madison Square Garden into logistical chaos on Monday after announcing last week that he would be attending Game 3 of the Finals in person. During the singing of the National Anthem, Trump was loudly booed out by the fans in attendance.

Following the announcement of Trump’s attendance, fans were told they would need to show up at least two hours early to undergo TSA-style security screenings. No bags of any kind will be allowed in the building. Cars in the area are being towed en masse. Watch parties were relocated. The Secret Service set up a multi-block no-access perimeter around MSG and Penn Station, smack in the middle of one of the busiest corporate and commuting centers in the nation.

Video which appeared to be taken about two hours before gametime seemed to show ticket holders backed up for blocks on end.

Accredited press that is typically allowed to access the locker rooms and backend facilities at the Garden to interview players and coaches have reportedly been barred from conducting interviews ahead of tip-off.

New Yorkers, fans, and sports commentators throughout the city and league have made their displeasure known.

“If it causes the Knicks to lose tonight, I’m blaming him. I’m blaming the president of the U.S.,” sportscaster Stephen A. Smith said on Monday. “Damnit, I hope the GOP loses votes because of it if we lose tonight.”

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), a native New Yorker, accused the president of bandwagoning and inconveniencing everyone in the process. “It’s not clear to me that Donald Trump is a big Knicks fan,” he said during a Monday press conference. “I mean, does this guy even know the difference between Karl Rove and Karl Anthony Towns? I don’t think so. He’s just injecting himself.”

Even Spurs point guard De’Aaron Fox expressed skepticism at Trump’s last-minute decision to attend the game. “The president being here just makes it inconvenient for everybody else,” he said. “We’re getting screened like it’s TSA. It’s a little inconvenient for the people that’s got to play, but it is what it is.”

Trump must have really felt he needed to travel to New York for Game 3. He rationalized skipping his son’s wedding last month because of the Iran war — which, of course, is still very much ongoing.

Trump Scraps Failed Freedom 250 Concerts, Makes Himself Headliner of ‘Greatest Rally, EVER’

After a slew of artists dropped out of the Freedom 250 concert series upon learning about organizers’ ties to Donald Trump, the president announced on Thursday that he would be replacing the shows with a rally headlined by none other than … himself.

His announcement comes after he urged for the concerts’ cancellation and pitched that he himself perform following the sudden exits of artists. The rally will still include music, however, and feature Eighties country singer Lee Greenwood, who wrote the patriotic hit “God Bless the U.S.A.”

House Votes to End Iran War in a Bipartisan Swipe Against Trump

As the Iran war enters its fourth month, the Republican-led House voted on Wednesday to end the war with Iran, with four Republicans backing Democrats in the push against President Donald Trump.

The 215-208 bipartisan vote to adopt the war powers resolution is largely a symbolic congressional action, likely to be vetoed by Trump if passed in Congress. However, the strike points to resistance within the GOP and could pressure the president to change course in the military campaign he has repeatedly claimed will be over soon.

Donald Trump loves money. He also loves to plaster his name and face across any piece of federal property that could possibly accommodate them — from passports, to memorials to other presidents, to National Park passes. It was probably inevitable, then, that he’d eventually try to put his face on U.S. currency.

The Washington Post reported on Thursday that the administration is pressing the Treasury Department’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring Trump’s face. The Post cites four current and former employees, who noted that the ask raised concerns as it is illegal for currency to feature anyone still alive. The Treasury even provided a mockup of the design, and the artists reportedly consulted Trump about it.

Trump Sure Seems to Be Going to the Hospital a Lot

Donald Trump once again made a trip to the hospital on Tuesday, for yet another “routine” medical assessment, according to the White House. Trump spent the morning at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he received his “annual dental and medical assessment.”

Most wouldn’t know it, but the White House medical center has its own dentist on staff, which has performed routine dental care for past presidents and staffers. The justification for Trump’s visit to Walter Reed looked additionally flimsy given that the president had a dental appointment with his personal doctor in Florida earlier this month, and the repeat health appointments he’s had throughout his second term.

Thomas Massie Wants the Epstein Files. Trump Wants Him Out of Congress

Donald Trump wants to keep congressional Republicans in power through the remainder of his term — but he also wants to use the midterms to punish those who have stepped off the MAGA line. Tuesday’s Republican primary in Kentucky will test the bounds of the president’s control over the party, its voters, and how much power he can still exert over downballot elections.

The race will see Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican who has represented Kentucky’s fourth congressional district since 2012, face off against the Trump-endorsed Ed Gallrein, a former Navy SEAL
