Watch Shania Twain Slay Glastonbury 2024 With ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman!’

Shania Twain delivered a set heavy on hits when she made her debut at the U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival on Sunday, opening with “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and rolling through staples like “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!,” “Any Man of Mine,” and “Honey, I’m Home.” She saved the most euphoric singalong for last, closing her daytime slot with “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”

“Let’s go, Glastonbury!” Twain shouted as the 1999 radio hit’s signature synth opening blared out. Dressed in a black miniskirt and boots, the singer performed the Come on Over single at Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage in the so-called “legend’s slot,” an afternoon showtime that featured icons like Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, and Kylie Minogue in the past. Video of Twain’s set captured the massive crowds, many of them dressed in Twain-themed attire or cowboy hats, extending to the fringes of Michael Eavis’s Worthy Farm.

Twain, who kicked off a new residency, Come on Over, at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas in May, recently made an addition to her band, recruiting Lindsay Ell as one of her main guitarists. Ell, who released a number of country albums as a solo artist, has become a highlight of Twain’s new lives shows and, at Glastonbury, she picked out a thrilling solo to “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”, tossing about her dyed-purple locks.

With Glastonbury over (among its highlights this year was a guitar-playing cameo by Michael J. Fox during Coldplay’s headlining performance), Twain will remain in the U.K. for a string of shows. She’ll play London’s Hyde Park on July 7, three days after another country star — Morgan Wallen — headlines the outdoor space.

Casey Wasserman Selling His Talent Agency After Epstein Debacle: ‘I Have Become a Distraction’

Following an exodus of talent who have left the Wasserman Group talent agency after emails between founder Casey Wasserman and Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell were revealed in the Justice Department’s latest tranche of documents, pressure for the founder to step down came to a boiling point in recent days. On Friday, Wasserman announced that he was selling the company as he had become a “distraction” to the business he founded 24 years ago.

In a memo sent to Wasserman agency employees and obtained by Rolling Stone, the founder apologized for his “past personal mistakes” that have caused “so much discomfort.” “It’s not fair to you, and it’s not fair to the clients and partners we represent so vigorously and care so deeply about,” he added.

When Iran’s Government Cracked Down, the People Still Had Music

When R.A. met her friends during the internet shutdown that followed the protests in Tehran last month, they were all carrying flash drives to be exchanged. There was nothing but music on the drives, but that meant everything to R.A., a classical music student finishing her four-year degree in Iran’s capital city. She and her friends found each other in cafes, exchanging downloaded files by hand, moving songs from person to person. “Because we can’t just stay away from music,” R.A. says. “We have to listen.”

She remembers sitting in a cafe where the owner put on a playlist that caught her attention. “It was different from the usual stuff,” she says. The music leaned older, drawn from Iranian artists active decades ago. Rooted in a simpler time, it provided a window to the past — a region that R.A. and her friends could escape to, and explore freely, in their hearts at least.
