The Cure have more concerts planned for 2027, and Robert Smith says the band's next live performances will feature plenty of unreleased material.
The frontman confirmed the plans earlier this week on BBC Radio 6 Music, following the band's inclusion on the station's 2026 Artists of the Year shortlist. Smith used the occasion to look back on a busy year before offering a glimpse of what The Cure have in store.
"I'm looking forward to more Cure concerts in 2027," he said. "Of course I'm not allowed to say where or when yet, but I'm confident they will be bursting with new songs. Watch this space…"
The announcement comes after a summer of 29 concerts, including appearances at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, the Isle of Wight Festival and Rock en Seine in Paris, where the band wrapped up its European schedule in August.
According to Smith, the band has been sitting on a substantial amount of unreleased material since the sessions that produced 2024's Songs of a Lost World, its first album in 16 years. On the same channel, back in June, Smith revealed that those sessions had yielded enough material for three albums. The second record was already finished and about to be delivered to Universal Music Group, while a third project was also taking shape.
The forthcoming second album will reportedly be darker than Songs of a Lost World. Smith described the third as considerably more upbeat, calling it his idea of "Cure Pop" and contrasting its sound with the band's recent material.
Neither album has an announced release date. Smith has also kept the band's 2027 itinerary secret, with no concert dates or locations revealed so far.
