Shania Twain is rocking again. The country-pop queen has released a bluesy rock track “Faded Blue Jeans,” and even tapped Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme to lend vocals. The song is steeped in gritty nostalgia, as Twain recalls a trusty pair of jeans, and the past relationship they remind her of.
“Faded blue jeans, big holes in the knees,” Twain and Homme harmonize on the chorus. “Rolling in the grass in ’em, trying to get your hands in ’em,” they sing over booming drums and crash cymbals.
“This is a song about young love or is it lust?” Twain wrote on Instagram. “I’m never without a trusty pair of faded blue jeans..they’ve been with me through just about every chapter of my life.”
“Faded Blue Jeans” is Twain’s latest preview of her seventh LP Little Miss Twain, set for release on July 24 via Republic Nashville. According to a press release, it’s her final single before the album comes out; previously, the singer shared the title track and sassy rocker “Dirty Rosie.” Little Miss Twain is described as having a focus “on the people, places, and experiences that defined [Twain’s] earliest years.”
It’s an exciting time for Twain. The singer just opened for Harry Styles at Wembley Stadium in London for his residency there, which wrapped on July 4 after 12 shows. “He called me up and said, ‘Will you come and do these shows with me at Wembley?’” Twain told Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now. “I’m like, ‘Of course — only for you, Harry.’”
