Go Behind the Scenes of Ice Spice’s Rolling Stone Cover Shoot

Rolling Stone is taking Pinterest users behind the scenes of their latest cover shoot with Ice Spice, ahead of her long-awaited debut album Y2K!

The Rolling Stone Board Drop features exclusive photos, an interview with Ice Spice, quotes from the people who put the shoot together, exclusive polaroids, behind-the-scenes videos you won’t see anywhere else, and inspirational archival material drawn from the Y2K aesthetic.

Ice Spice’s stylist Timothy Luke Garcia tells Rolling Stone that while doing research for the artist’s Rolling Stone cover shoot, he found inspiration from a lot of old RS magazine covers from the 2000s, including several featuring Britney Spears.

Garcia also talks about Ice Spice’s personal style. “What’s so special about her brand is the importance of staying herself as she progresses,” says Garcia “I think with the more she leans into her own aesthetic, the more people learn more about her, fall in love with her, and I think it just makes her original.”

This is the third Rolling Stone and Pinterest collaboration. Last September, Rolling Stone invited Pinterest users behind the scenes of our cover shoot with Rodrigo with a Pinterest Board Drop, featuring a bold photo spread from the cover story and video from the shoot with the pop star.

Rolling Stone partnered with Pinterest in a collaboration to capture the past 35+ years of Grammy Album of the Year winners and current nominees as featured on Rolling Stone covers.

Courtney Love to Dave Grohl: ‘Just Say We’re Cool’

Courtney Love sat down for a sprawling conversation with Billy Corgan that covered everything from their shared hate of Kim Gordon to Marlon Brando, who the Hole lead singer thought was her grandfather for years. Toward the end of the nearly two-hour chat, the topic turned to Love and Dave Grohl‘s extremely rocky relationship dating back to the Nirvana days when she dated (and married) the band’s frontman, the late Kurt Cobain.

When discussing fellow friends and musicians speaking ill of them in the media during Corgan’s podcast The Magnificent Others, Love brought up Grohl, who she appeared to make a truce with in 2014 when Nirvana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “Come out with it and just say we’re cool,” said Love, referencing Grohl. “Be man enough to man up, because you’re the Uberman. [You have] all the straight males and we’re cool, but you won’t say it because you’re afraid you’ll lose your audience. You’re afraid it’ll affect your relationship with literal Paul McCartney.” In 2014, Love criticized a 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit concert performance between the surviving members of Nirvana and Paul McCartney, saying (among other things) that she was not “not amused” by the Beatles member’s involvement.
