Charli XCX is hitting the road with a new fall tour in support of her upcoming album Music, Fashion, Film.

The singer will be joined by special guest, singer-songwriter underscores. Presale tickets go live on Friday, June 12, at 9 a.m., local time, before general sale tickets open up later that day at 1 p.m. “Can’t wait to party together again, it’s gonna be cute,” Charli wrote of the tour, signing off her message with two kisses.

After experimenting with a moodier sound with the dramatic Wuthering Heights soundtrack in February, Charli has been coy about what’s in store for her seventh studio album, which is set for release July 24.

She’s put out two singles so far, “Rock Music” and “SS26,” both of which hint at an edgier, rock sound, though she won’t commit to Music, Fashion, Film being a designated rock album. “I’m not gonna explain where I was coming from with ‘Rock Music,’” Charli wrote on Instagram. “But all i know is that things can be funny, earnest, sincere, and joyful all at the same time and that’s what i feel about a lot of the things i make.”

After the whirlwind success of Brat in 2024, Charli has been adamant that she doesn’t want to feel boxed in by any specific label or music genre. “If I’d made another album that felt more dance-leaning, it would have felt really hard, really sad,” she told Vogue in April, “but what’s interesting for me is to bend the possibilities of what my perspective on that could be.”

This week in 1991, 35 years ago, was one of those moments that changed music history. On Sept. 24, four classic albums dropped on the same day: Nirvana’s Nevermind, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Blood Sugar Sex Magik, A Tribe Called Quest’s The Low End Theory, and the Pixies’ Trompe Le Monde. All four were instant sensations, to the shock of the industry, transforming how everything would sound for the next decade. The revolution happened fast — August of 1991 was one era, but then by October, it was a whole new ballgame.

If you’re looking for symbolic reasons why music was overdue for a revolution, look no further than the year’s biggest pop group, C&C Music Factory. Just a few weeks earlier, on Aug. 23, the Factory (as nobody ever called them) were doing a live show in Tucson, Arizona, as part of the Club MTV Tour. Other acts on the bill: Color Me Badd, Gerardo, of “Rico Suave” fame, and Bell Biv DeVoe. But the C&C rapper Freedom Williams passed out cold onstage, falling flat on his face, with the whole crowd watching. The official explanation was the usual “dehydration” and “exhaustion.” (Maybe he also made the mistake of trusting a big butt and a smile?)

U2 Announce New Album, ‘Carnaval de Luz,’ Out Nov. 13

U2 will release Carnaval de Luz, their first album of new songs in nine years, on Nov. 13, the band announced today. “It’s an extraordinary collection of songs,” bassist Adam Clayton tells Rolling Stone in interviews for an upcoming feature, “and it’s the culmination of the work that everyone has been doing for 50 years.” U2 first played together in Larry Mullen Jr.’s kitchen on Sept. 25, 1976 — 50 years ago this Friday. Bono describes the album as “anarchic,” which is borne out by a just-released new single, the concise, raging punk tune “Silencio.”

The 12-track album, produced by Garret “Jacknife” Lee, who’s been working with U2 since 2004’s How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, closes with “Torn,” featuring the final vocal performance from Dolly Parton, who died last month. Longtime U2 collaborator Brian Eno co-wrote and played synths on three tracks, including the opener, “Go (Carnaval de Luz).” Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid co-wrote “Torn” with Parton and the band, Martin Garrix has a writing credit on the track “Glorify,” and Ryan Tedder is credited with additional production on “Silencio.”

Dolly Parton’s Estate Secures Restraining Order Against Nephew Over ‘Demands for Payment’

A day after Dolly Parton’s trust accused her nephew of interfering with its business relationships through “threats, intimidation and coercion,” a Tennessee judge granted the estate a temporary restraining order against him, citing a series of emails and other communications that allegedly paired “threats with demands for payment.”

In an order issued Wednesday and obtained by Rolling Stone, Chancellor I’Ashea L. Myles of Nashville Chancery Court directed Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, to stay at least 1,000 feet from estate employees and business partners, remain off private property owned by the estate, and refrain from disruptive or harassing conduct.

New Found Glory Announce EPCOT Shows in Honor of ‘Massive Disney Fan’ Chad Gilbert

New Found Glory has canceled their performance at Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, which was set to begin next week, following the death of bandmate Chad Gilbert. In honor of the founding member and lead guitarist, who was a dedicated Disney fan, the band will play their first live shows at EPCOT in Walt Disney World Resort.

In a statement shared to social media, New Found Glory thanked fans for their support following Gilbert’s death. “Seeing how deeply he touched so many lives means everything to us, and we know he would be so proud to see it,” they wrote.
