Chappell Roan Apologizes to Soccer Player’s Family After Security Guard Incident

“I didn’t even see a woman and a child, like no one came up to me, no one bothered me,” singer says following Brazilian soccer player Jorginho’s allegations, adding that security acted independently

Chappell Roan has shared “my half of the story” following an accusation that one of her security guards intimidated a young fan at a Sao Paulo hotel.

On Saturday, professional Brazilian soccer player Jorginho shared a story on social media that alleged that Roan sent her security guard to chastise his wife and daughter after the latter approached her briefly during breakfast in their shared hotel; however, on Sunday morning, Roan clarified that the security guard, who wasn’t a member of her personal team, was acting independently.

“My wife is in São Paulo for Lollapalooza Brazil. This morning, my daughter woke up incredibly excited. She even made a sign because she was so happy to see an artist she really admires, or used to admire,” Jorginho wrote in Portuguese and English to his 5 million followers on Instagram.

“By coincidence, they’re staying at the same hotel as this artist. During breakfast, the artist walked past their table. My daughter, like any child, recognized her, got excited, and just wanted to make sure it was really her. The worst part is she didn’t even approach her. She simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything.”

Following that brief encounter, “A large security guard came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and my daughter, saying that she shouldn’t allow my daughter to ‘disrespect’ or ‘harass’ other people,” Jorginho wrote.

“Honestly, I don’t know at what point simply walking past a table and looking to see if someone is there can be considered harassment,” the soccer star continued, adding that the security guard “even said he would file a complaint against them with the hotel, while my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears.”

While Jorginho didn’t name his child, People reports that it was his stepdaughter Ada Law, the daughter of actor Jude Law and Catherine Harding, Jude’s ex and Jorginho’s current wife.

On Saturday night, Roan thanked her security team during her Lollapalooza Brazil set, “I’m so grateful, so thank you, and thank you to my crew and my security and my band, and everyone behind the scenes.”

However, on Sunday morning amid the growing controversy, the singer took to Instagram to clarify that she wasn’t responsible for the incident, as well as apologize to the mother and daughter.

“I’m just gonna tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard who is not my personal security,” Roan emphasized.

“I didn’t even see a woman and a child, like no one came up to me, no one bothered me. Like, I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel. I think these people were staying at the hotel as well. I did not ask this security guard to go up to talk to this mother and child, they did not come up to me, they weren’t doing anything. It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe because there’s no action even taken.”

Roan continued, “I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children. I am sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, that you would do something, and that if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.”

Britney Spears Spoke in British Accent and Offered Cops Lasagna During DUI Stop, Arrest Records Say

Pearl Jam Will Unveil New Drummer in September: ‘It’s Our Mystery Wrapped in an Enigma’

When Pearl Jam announced plans to headline the 10th annual Ohana Festival earlier this month, many fans had the same question: “Who will be playing drums?” The band hasn’t played a show since Matt Cameron announced his departure last year, and they’ve yet to indicate who is going to replace him.

But in a new interview on SiriusXM’s Pearl Jam Radio, guitarist Stone Gossard strongly implied they’ve made their pick. At the very least, they’ll make it official once they take the stage at Ohana on Sept. 27. “There’s not enough mystery in the world,” Gossard said. “I think the band is very excited that we’re actually getting to play. It’s been a while and the fact that we get to do it at Ohana makes it even doubly exciting. And the fact that nobody knows who’s going to play drums with us even makes it triply exciting. So, it’s our mystery wrapped in an enigma and we’re relishing in it right now.”

Ed Sheeran Parts With Longtime Label Warner: ‘This Isn’t a Disgruntled Artist Situation’

After 15 years, Ed Sheeran is no longer part of Warner Music Group. On Friday, the musician shared a newsletter with fans revealing he split from Atlantic Records and Asylum Records last month. “This isn’t a ‘disgruntled artist leaves record label’ type situation,” Sheeran wrote. “This is a boy who started as a teenager on the company with different priorities, to the father of 2 man who exists now, who feels like he needs a shift and change in the way he does things professionally.”

Sheeran released his first album, Plus, under Atlantic/Asylum in September 2011. The labels would go on to oversee the release of six more albums, including Multiply, Divide, Subtract, Equals, and the new series starter, Play. During this stretch of time, Sheeran went from couch surfing pub player to one of the biggest pop stars of his generation.
