On The White Lotus Season Four, Helena Bonham Carter’s loss has turned out to be Laura Dern‘s gain. Dern is joining the HBO series, stepping into the spot left open after Bonham Carter’s departure late last week, Deadline reports.

According to Deadline, White is rewriting the part for Dern, rather than just slotting her into the character originally conceived for Bonham Carter. HBO said in a statement last week that once cameras started rolling, it became clear the original version of the character showrunner/creator Mike White wrote for Bonham Carter “did not align once on set.”

Dern and White are long-time collaborators, going all the way back to his directorial debut, 2007’s Year of the Dog. They went on to co-create HBO’s Enlightened, which ran from 2011 to 2013, with Dern earning rave reviews for her performance and winning a Golden Globe. Dern also made an uncredited cameo on Season Two of The White Lotus, voicing Abby, the wife of Michael Imperioli’s character, Dominic, during a brief phone call.

Season Four of The White Lotus takes place during the Cannes Film Festival and centers on a fresh group of guests and staff at a luxury hotel along the Côte d’Azur. The ensemble already includes Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Chris Messina, Kumail Nanjiani, Rosie Perez, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Sandra Bernhard, Alexander Ludwig, AJ Michalka, Ari Graynor, Chloe Bennet, Ben Schnetzer, and Nadia Tereszkiewicz, among others. Per Deadline, production has continued while White writes Dern’s role into the season.

HBO has not yet announced a premiere date for Season Four.

Speaking to the Megyn Kelly Show, the actor addressed the allegation that he “was taking advantage of 16-year-olds,” as the host put it. “I did sleep with a 16-year-old when I was 30. When I was 30, I was a very different person. I was a lot younger, and I was an immature 30-year-old,” Brand said, adding that the age of consent in the U.K. is 16.

‘Leaving Neverland’ Director Says ‘Michael’ Moviegoers Turn ‘Deaf Ear’ to Molestation Allegations

The director of Leaving Neverland accused moviegoers of the new Michael Jackson biopic of turning a “deaf ear” to the child molestation allegations against the singer.

Dan Reed, who helmed a pair of documentaries that detailed the accusations against Jackson, criticized the singer’s estate, Michael director Antoine Fuqua, and the moviegoing public in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “How can you tell an authentic story about Michael Jackson without ever mentioning the fact that he was seriously accused of being a child molester? I just don’t really see it,” Reed said. “People don’t care that he was a child molester. Literally, people just don’t care.”
