Bravo announced in April that it would launch a full investigation into how audio from the Summer House reunion made it to the public. Fortuitously, an adroit private eye was available to help: Jennifer Lawrence.
On Tuesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen thanked the Oscar-winning actress for providing info that exposed the scofflaw staffer responsible for the leak. “A Bravo superfan provided some crucial information that helped confirm the source,” he said. “Well, with the last reunion episode having aired tonight, I wanted to personally thank that superfan. Folks, that superfan was indeed Jennifer Lawrence … Her online sleuthing helped our team of investigators solve this mystery.”
Cohen did not reveal Lawrence’s methods, nor did he name and shame the culprit who leaked the audio, but he did praise her dedication to watching hours of reality TV on the network that pays him. “Bravo fans are the most loyal and dedicated,” he said. “Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar winner, you were the top of the class.”
The leak surfaced shortly after the Summer House cast gathered to film the reunion, which largely centered around the then-breaking news that recently-divorced Amanda Batula was dating West Wilson (who had previously dated the show’s Ciara Miller, for those keeping up with all the Fleetwood Mac–style partner swapping on the series). The episodes airing at the time showed Wilson and Miller attempting to reconcile while Batula and Kyle Cooke were attempting to salvage their marriage, so the switch-up was a bombshell akin to Bravo’s great “Scandoval” of 2023.
Naturally, Bravo’s bigwigs and Cohen were pretty peeved to see gossip sites scooping them on their own reunion. “This represents a serious breach of trust and a clear lack of respect for the cast, crew, and the integrity of the production process,” a network spokesperson stated in April. “We take this matter very seriously and have launched a full investigation and we will take appropriate action based on our findings.”
“People laid their souls out emotionally for 10 hours yesterday and it’s disgusting and illegal for someone to leak or distribute this,” Cohen wrote on social media at the time. “It’s disrespectful to the work and tears the cast put in yesterday. Let the season play out. You will see it all in due time.”
Cohen and the Bravo bosses must be pretty pleased now, though, since they saved a fortune in investigation fees thanks to the gratis snooping of Lawrence, who also donates her time to make appearances on Watch What Happens Live.
