Taylor Swift Isn’t Making Her Marvel Debut in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ After All

Taylor Swift Isn’t Making Her Marvel Debut in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ After All

Sorry to the very specific group of people who fall into the center of the Swifties and Marvel fans Venn diagram, but Taylor Swift is not in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Over the weekend, a teaser trailer and poster for the upcoming Marvel release, out June 26, sparked rumors that the pop musician would be joining Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the film as Lady Deadpool. The foundation of these rumors was a shot of someone’s legs in costume from the thigh down in the trailer and an image of Deadpool and Wolverine holding hands while wearing friendship bracelets on a poster.

It’s not much to go off of, but Swifties have been trained in the art of making something out of nothing after years of sniffing out easter eggs and subtle messages hidden in Swift’s album releases. There were also already nine-year-old rumors that the singer would appear as Dazzler, an X-Men-associated comic book character with a special connection to queer Marvel fans. But as Entertainment Weekly reports, there is no Taylor’s Version of either character.

“Movies like this, there’s so much speculation about so many people that might end up in the film. I saw one that was convinced Elvis was in the movie,” Reynolds told Fandango in May. “Anything can happen, and that’s sort of what I love about this universe. Surprises are the essence of Deadpool.”

With Swift out of the pool, there’s still hope for the subset of fans who speculated that the clothed legs in the trailer belong to Blake Lively, a close friend of Swift’s and Reynolds’ wife. In February, Reynolds shared a teaser for the film with the caption: “Has everyone seen the #Deadpool trailer? Also, has anyone seen my wife?”

When her career began, it would have been hard to imagine Teyana Taylor winning a Golden Globe before a Grammy. But there she was at the Beverly Hilton, taking the stage after winning Best Supporting Actress, visibly stunned as she thanked her family, her director Paul Thomas Anderson, and the Black women who paved the way.

“We belong in every room we walk into,” she said. “Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”

Kevin Spacey’s ‘Sickness’ Won’t Trigger Payout from ‘House of Cards’ Insurer: Jury

Jurors let an insurance company off the hook Tuesday, rejecting a $29.5 million claim tied to Kevin Spacey’s ouster from the hit Netflix show “House of Cards.”

After a day and a half of deliberations, the panel determined Spacey’s diagnosis of “sexual compulsive behavior” in 2017 was not the primary reason producers halted production and decided to write him out of the show’s final season. In a 10-2 vote for the insurer, jurors said production company Media Rights Capital (MRC) failed to prove Spacey’s alleged “sickness” was the “most important and predominant cause” of its losses, as required under the policy.
