After he finishes waging an intergalactic holy war in the third Dune flick, Timothée Chalamet will embark on a much more family-friendly space adventure with Selena Gomez in the new animated film Not Alone.

The film was announced Monday, June 22, though in classic Chalamet fashion, he made sure to stoke some interest with a cryptic Instagram teaser last night: “New movies announcement tmrw :)” he wrote alongside a photo of a sky with a rocket emoji. Not Alone — which marks Chalamet’s first feature-length animated project — is set to arrive April 16, 2027.

In the film, Chalamet will voice Joe, described as an “introverted rocket mechanic,” while Gomez will play Fran, an “astro-botanist,” who’s built the first “plant-fueled rocket.” The two come together as they prepare for the rocket’s inaugural launch, and quickly fall in love (though “neither is particularly adept at romance,” a synopsis notes).

Thrown into the mix are a trio of aliens — Dunk, Welly, and Shirm — who take up residence at Joe’s house as they try to evade a bumbling intergalactic cop, Officer Zandro. Fran’s rocket, the aliens hope, will get them back to their planet safely.

Along with Chalamet and Gomez, the Not Alone cast will feature Rob Brydon, Diane Morgan, and Jamie Demetriou as Dunk, Welly, and Shirm, respectively. Brett Goldstein will voice Officer Sandro, while the supporting cast will also feature Allison Janney and Lamorne Morris.

Not Alone will be co-directed by Eric Guillon, Claire Dodgson, and Jonathan Del Val. The trio have worked on a variety of films for Illumination, the animation studio behind Not Alone and mega franchises like Despicable Me and Super Mario Bros.

For Chalamet, Not Alone will follow Dune: Part Three, the highly anticipated, and final, installment of Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi trilogy based on the books of Frank Herbert. (It’s set to hit theaters Dec. 18.) As for Gomez, this will be her first major film role since co-starring in 2024’s Emilia Pérez, though she’s also remained busy with her hit Hulu series, Only Murders In the Building, which got renewed for a sixth season last year.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Has a Brand New Trailer, and Spidey Is Freaking Out

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Has a Brand New Trailer, and Spidey Is Freaking Out

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day became the most-viewed trailer in 24 hours ever this past March, and now producers are starting over from scratch with a new glimpse at Tom Holland’s fourth venture into the Spiderverse, which opens July 31. The hooks this time include Spider-Man spinning out of control, Peter Parker asking Bruce Banner how to suppress his mutations, the Incredible Hulk hulking out incredibly, and, most horrifically, New York City skyscrapers crumbling outward.

In the trailer’s final scene, a group of what look like SWAT officers have Spider-Man surrounded and he stuns them by saying he needed to take a minute to stretch. “I’m not in high school anymore,” he quips. “Do you stretch? Are you a big stretcher? It’s so good for you.” Then of course he shows them what he’s made of.

Jimmy Kimmel Roasts Trump Over Reflecting Pool Gaff: ‘He Can’t Even Get That Right’

Jimmy Kimmel took aim at Donald Trump‘s disastrous decision to paint the Washington, D.C. reflecting pool a shade of “American flag blue.”

“Trump spent reportedly $14 million updating the reflecting pool on the National Mall,” Kimmel explained. “He set out to resurface and repaint it because he didn’t like the way it looked. He wanted to paint it American flag blue. That was the color. So, the project was completed last week. And now, not even a week later, it’s already completely green.”

Sean Penn Plans Jan. 6 Cop Biopic Starring Bradley Cooper: Report

If he can get away with it, Sean Penn is planning on directing a biopic about the early life of a policeman who was present at the Jan. 6 insurrection. Bradley Cooper would play the cop, according to Variety. Deadline, which broke the story, mentions that the cop is “caught up” in the riots, but elides which side of the divide he’s on. But since Penn is involved, it’s fair to assume it’ll be an indictment of President Trump. Nevertheless, Deadline is calling the script “an unexpected story about friendship,” as opposed to a film explicitly about Jan. 6.

The snag for the as-yet-untitled film is that it’s tied to Warner Bros., which is currently in talks with Paramount — a company with strong ties to the White House. The Justice Department recently approved Paramount’s bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. Paramount President David Ellison hosted a dinner for the Trumps in April and was present at the president’s birthday UFC fight, which Paramount Plus broadcasted. Penn, as Variety notes, has called the president “an enemy of mankind.”
