A 21-year-old Austrian man pleaded guilty Tuesday to plotting an ISIS-inspired attack on Taylor Swift’s three sold-out Eras Tour shows in Vienna in August 2024.

On the opening day of his trial in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, the defendant — identified in court only as Beran A. under the nation’s privacy rules — also admitted to belonging to a terror cell. However, he pleaded not guilty to separate charges tied to planned attacks across the Middle East, according to the BBC.

Austrian police arrested Beran A. on Aug. 7, 2024, one day before Swift was scheduled to play her first show at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium. “My client has caused a great deal of fear and panic among many people, and he will have to answer for that, no question,” the defendant’s lawyer, Anna Mair reportedly told the court. “But please try to look beyond the headlines.”

Officials revealed in 2024 that they had prevented the attack, but Swift’s concerts were were still canceled. When Austrian authorities raided Beran A.’s home before the first show, they recovered what prosecutors described in court as a nearly finished bomb. According to the indictment, the defendant prepared for the attack for at least a month, following ISIS instructional videos.

Authorities said in 2024 that Beran A.’s aim was to “kill as many people as possible outside the concert venue.”

A second man, a 21-year-old identified as Arda K., is also on trial, accused of being part of a terrorist cell and encouraging the attack. A third alleged member of the cell, Hasan E. is being held in Saudi Arabia, where he allegedly stabbed a security officer at the Grand Mosque in Mecca. A fourth person, a Syrian teenager identified as Mohammed A., was convicted in Germany last year for helping to translate bomb-making material, among other charges. He received an 18-month suspended sentence in juvenile court.

In the wake of the cancellations, Swift stayed silent on the matter until the European leg of her tour wrapped. She later explained that she didn’t want to provoke anyone who might wish her fans harm. In an Instagram message, she called the cancellations devastating but said she was thankful to authorities. In the opening installment of her Disney+ documentary, Swift revealed more about the impact of the attempted attack. “Never in my life did I think we would have a terrorist plot,” she said. “We dodged a massacre.”

Ariana Grande Was ‘Too Shy’ to Make New Album ‘Petal’ Before, Then She Thought: ‘F-ck It’

In 2023, Ariana Grande gathered her team at Republic Records to preview Eternal Sunshine, the album she created when the Hollywood strikes brought production on Wicked to an abrupt stop. She cried while presenting the record, which she described as vulnerable and toying with the expectations often projected onto her. In a new Instagram video, Grande calls the group back into the same studio. “Surprise,” she said as she presented them with Petal, her upcoming eighth studio album out July 31.

Vulnerable was a fitting adjective for Eternal Sunshine, which found Grande in an introspective mindset as she unpacked her emotional state as well as her perception of love. When she detailed Petal, she landed on a sharper descriptor: “It’s a little feral.” Grande went on to explain that the record emerged from a part of herself that laid dormant for a while. “It’s definitely from a place where I have been maybe too shy or polite to tap into before,” she said. “This kind of just feels like, fuck it.”

“Dance No More” appears on Styles’ latest album Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. Earlier this year, the musician performed the song during his double-duty stint on Saturday Night Live. It was an unexpected choice given the previous release of singles “Aperture” and “American Girls.” But “Dance No More” perhaps best captures the beating heart of the album.

KJ Apa Chides ‘F-cking Liar’ Mr. Fantasy After His Friends Show Up on His Video

After all of his friends partied on Mr. Fantasy’s “Do Me Right” video without him, KJ Apa is saying “enough is enough.”

Apa, who is believed by many fans online to be the man behind the shoddy wig, plastic sunnies, and fake teeth, set the record straight on Monday. Although he insisted he usually doesn’t do this, Apa took to social media and alluded to the celebrity-stuffed video — which features cameos from his former Riverdale co-stars, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, and Madelaine Petsch — and claimed the whole charade has been “hurting me and my career.” He continued, “There was recently a music video that was released that included a bunch of people who are really close to me by a guy who’s completely and utterly stolen my image and misappropriated my image and my likeness, and I think we all know who we’re talking about, and it’s fucked up.” Apa, who never named Mr. Fantasy in the clip, also lamented that he “lost on a huge job and can no longer go in for serious work because people think that I’m a joke because of this guy.”

Kanye Denies Stonewalling Musicians at ‘Hurricane’ Copyright Trial

Kanye West took the witness stand at a copyright trial in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, and the artist now known as Ye showed visible signs of irritation.

When the plaintiffs’ lawyer, who claims Ye owes more than half a million dollars for alleged infringement tied to his Grammy-winning track “Hurricane,” greeted him after the lunch break with, “Good afternoon, Ye,” the artist stared back silently without responding. Asked whether he repeatedly changed lawyers and licensing representatives in 2022 and 2023, making him difficult to reach, Ye answered in a flat monotone, repeatedly saying, “I don’t recall” and “I don’t remember.”
