After sharing a vulnerable post addressing being called an “industry plant,” Yungblud has received a wave of support from fellow musicians and industry peers, including from SZA, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Lauren Jauregui, and Alyssa Milano.

Last week, Yungblud closed out the third year of his festival Bludfest in Czechia and was hit with a wave of emotion. Addressing a crowd of 20,000, the English punk rocker held back tears as he admitted to feeling “disconnected from everything” but upon staring out at the sea of faces before him, he felt “safe from the outside world” and reminded that he belonged somewhere.

He shared a clip of the moment to Instagram on Wednesday, writing about his hesitancy to be transparent about the reality of being an artist “in this day and age” and his struggles in trying to find his footing.

“In the past 10 years I’ve been on a million different journeys tried a million different sounds trying to figure out who I am or what I can mean to the world everyday whilst the world shouts back,” he wrote. “The amount of hate and disbelief around me from strangers on the Internet or bitter musicians really weighs on my heart as all I’ve been trying to do for the past 10 years is spread love, build something I believe in and unify people in a safe space.”

Yungblud also referred to a recent article by Blunt Magazine that pushed back on the online discourse that called him an “industry plant,” writing that he felt validated by the post.

In his comment section, Yungblud received support from thousands of fans and industry peers.

“I stood side stage at BTTB and watched you breathe rarified air the way you elevated Changes,” Anthrax co-founder and guitarist Scott Ian wrote. “You’ve earned it all Dom. Cheers brother.”

“Rooting for you,” SZA commented. Lauren Jauregui added, “I feel u.”

“No one gets out of this life unscathed,” Milano said. “I appreciate you allowing us into your heart. I think this vulnerability will make a difference in people’s lives. Rooting and praying for you. Keep swimming and we will be there cheering you on.”

Even “Weird Al” Yankovic has limits to parodies he finds funny. For instance, he is not amused by the internet’s “Weird A.I.” jokes. Sure, “AI” in capital letters kinda looks like “Al,” but as he told Syracuse.com on Monday, he’s “not a fan of AI.” In fact, he made it clear that you literally cannot pay him obscene amounts of money to feign interest in artificial intelligence.

When a company hawking AI-powered “business software that would increase productivity” (ever the gentleman, Yankovic refused to name-and-shame) offered him “a nice pile of money” to flog their wares in a commercial he said no.
