Justin Bieber has been added to the star-studded lineup of performers at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final game, for its first-ever halftime show. It takes place at New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19.

“The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way nothing else can. I’m grateful to be part of this Halftime Show, and even more grateful knowing it’s already helping expand access to education for children around the world,” Justin Bieber said in a statement.

The halftime show will benefit FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which is looking to raise $100 million to provide children worldwide expanded access to education and football. It has already raised more than half that amount and continues to head toward its goal with $1 from every ticket sold for matches being donated throughout the tournament.

Bieber joins previously announced performers Madonna, Shakira, and BTS to co-headline the FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, which is being produced by Global Citizen in partnership with Live Nation and Done + Dusted. Burna Boy; Gustavo Dudamel; and PS22 Chorus, a choir comprising 4th and 5th graders from a public elementary school in Staten Island featuring Coldplay, will also appear. The show, which is curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin as part of his continuing role as international curator of Global Citizen Festival, is expected to run 11 minutes.

“When it comes to what the world needs, there is nothing more important than education. We are proud to have Justin Bieber joining Madonna, Shakira and BTS to co-headline the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show in support of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund and our mission to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a statement. “Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel and PS 22 Chorus ft. Coldplay will also join and play a key role in conveying a powerful message of unity and hope to billions of people worldwide.”

Infantino continued: “As the world unites for the most significant football match in history on Sunday, 19 July 2026 at the New York New Jersey Stadium, this groundbreaking spectacle, curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay, will celebrate football, music and our shared values, ensuring a legacy that transcends the final whistle.”

Beyond the musical talent, the show will also feature appearances from the beloved Muppets from Sesame Street.

“This is the single largest gathering of artists united for a cause since Live Aid, and it could well be the most-watched 11 minutes of broadcast music performance in history. This is a moment that will bring the world together through music, hope, and action,” Hugh Evans, Co-Founder & CEO, Global Citizen, said in a statement. “These extraordinary artists, representing every corner of the globe, are coming together to help create opportunities for children everywhere through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. Together, we are calling on world leaders, specifically President Macron and Prime Minister Sánchez, to seize this moment of global unity by contributing to the Education Fund and ensuring this World Cup sets a new benchmark for lasting impact.”

This year’s World Cup tournament has featured several rousing performances. Katy Perry and 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius Luka performed “Wonder” at the 2026 World Cup opening match between the United States and Paraguay in Los Angeles on June 12, preceded by Future and Tyla’s high voltage performance of “Game Time.” They were followed by Lisa of Blackpink, Brazilian icon Anitta, and Nigerian superstar Rema, who delivered “Goals.” That same day, Canada’s opening ceremony featured performances from Michael Buble, Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Eliana, Jessie Reyes, Noah Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream, and William Prince. At the official opening game in Mexico City, the show featured Shakira and Burna Boy performing their official tournament song, “Dai Dai.”

Bad Bunny stays winning. The Puerto Rican superstar just earned his first Emmy nomination for his historic 2026 Super Bowl halftime performance, specifically in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category.

Interestingly enough, the musician is credited twice under the official nomination, once with his birth name Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio for his role as a supervising producer of the performance, and as a performer. Sam Cooke’s Granddaughters Preview Their Daptone Debut With ‘If I Let You’

When a group calling themselves the Womack Sisters announce a throwback soul album, the first thing they have to contend with is their legacy. Zeimani, Kucha, and BG Womack are the daughters of Linda and Cecil Womack, who made R&B records in the Eighties. Their grandfather (Linda’s dad) is Sam Cooke. And their uncle is Cecil’s older brother, R&B legend Bobby Womack.

In August, the trio will release The Womack Sisters, their self-titled debut, on Daptone Records. Fans of the label will recognize the textured harmonies and vintage arrangements that run through “If I Let You,” the group’s latest single, out today (July 8). Beginning with a driving organ, the bouncy soul-pop tune is a meditation on rushing into love.

Grammy-winning producer Jermaine Dupri has filed a blistering lawsuit against Sony Music Entertainment (SME), accusing the company of underpaying and concealing royalties tied to his work with artists including Mariah Carey, Usher, Kris Kross, Xscape, Bow Wow, and Da Brat.

The Atlanta-based producer and songwriter, known for shaping the sound of Nineties hip-hop and R&B, claims Sony Music “knew that it was violating” contracts with him and his influential label, So So Def, but “never attempted to disclose its contemptuous accounting practices.” Dupri’s lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court, is seeking at least $18 million in damages.
