Kanye West will not be allowed to play the Wireless festival in London this summer after U.K. officials blocked his application to travel to the country, the BBC reports.

West (who now goes by Ye) reportedly filed a travel application with the U.K.’s Home Office on Monday. The Home Office denied West’s requests, reportedly on the grounds that his presence would “not be conducive to the public good,” per the BBC.

Following the news, Wireless Festival announced it would cancel the event. “As a result of the Home Office banning Ye from entering the United Kingdom, Wireless Festival has been forced to cancel. All ticket holders will receive an automatic full refund.”

A rep for West did not immediately return a request for comment.

Last week, West announced a three-night run at London’s annual Wireless Festival. The announcement came as West readied large-scale performances around the world, including dates in France, Mexico City, and Los Angeles, where he recently played two sold-out nights at SoFi Stadium. Almost immediately, British commentators and public officials condemned the festival’s booking, with London mayor Sadiq Khan saying the decision was “not reflective of London’s values,” while Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the situation “deeply concerning,” citing Ye’s past antisemitic remarks and the need to ensure safety for Jewish communities.

Over the weekend, Pepsi withdrew its sponsorship of the festival, citing the rapper’s history of antisemitic remarks. On Monday, one of the event’s major partners, Diageo, also confirmed it would withdraw support, while PayPal announced it was reviewing its involvement with the festival.

Amid the backlash, Wireless festival boss Melvin Benn defended the booking. While he called West’s past comments “abhorrent,” he added, “I would ask people to reflect on their instant comments of disgust at the likelihood of him performing (as was mine) and offer some forgiveness and hope to him as I have decided to do.”

West did apologize to to various religious leaders for his past remarks, and in a January interview with Vanity Fair, cited years of mental health challenges as a source of his behavior. Before the U.K.’s Home Office announced its decision, West also offered to meet with members of the Jewish community in the U.K.In a statement, he said, “I’ve been following the conversation around Wireless and want to address it directly. My only goal is to come to London and present a show of change, bringing unity, peace, and love through my music. I would be grateful for the opportunity to meet with members of the Jewish community in the UK in person, to listen. I know words aren’t enough — I’ll have to show change through my actions. If you’re open, I’m here.”

The move recalls Tyler, the Creator being barred from entering the United Kingdom in 2015 after the Home Office cited lyrics from earlier projects like Bastard and Goblin in determining that his presence was a public safety concern. The ban, which Tyler publicly criticized at the time, kept him from performing in the U.K. until it was lifted in 2019.

Lil Nas X Granted Mental Health Diversion in LAPD Battery Case: ‘Doing Very Well’

“Old Town Road” singer Lil Nas X is a significant step closer to putting his felony police battery case in the rearview mirror.

The Grammy-winning musician, born Montero Hill, appeared in a Los Angeles County courtroom Monday and was granted entry into a mental health diversion program. The judge found that his arrest last August, for allegedly battering three police officers, was “aberrant from his normal conduct.” The court determined the incident was linked to the artist’s subsequent diagnosis of bipolar disorder, and so long as he complies with his treatment plan and obeys all laws for the next two years, the case will be dismissed, Judge Alan Schneider said.

When Katseye teased their upcoming song, “Pinky Up,” with a short clip on Thursday, April 2, fans were quick to point out that Manon Bannerman was nowhere to be found. Although some are holding out hope that she’d be featured in the full music video, others have noticed that Bannerman removed any mention of the girl group from her Instagram bio.

Amid mounting speculation that she won’t be returning following news of her temporary hiatus back in February, Bannerman reportedly sent fans a Weverse message later on Thursday. “Thank you so much for all the love and support you’ve been sending my way. I’m really grateful for the patience and kindness everyone has shown during this time,” she wrote, via Forbes. “HxG and I are having positive conversations and I feel supported. Cardi B Will Judge New Yorkers’ Jingles for Zohran Mamdani’s Free 2-K Song Contest

Do you have the musical acumen and passion for toddler education to impress both Zohran Mamdani and Cardi B? The New York City mayor announced on Friday that Cardi B would judge a citywide competition of jingles, officially New York’s Best Childcare Jingle, written to promote Mamdani’s free childcare initiative for the Big Apple’s two-year-olds, which the administration is calling 2-K, similar to pre-K and 3-K for three-year-olds.

New Yorkers who think they have what it takes can submit a 15- or 30-second jingle to a special page of the NYC.gov website, which they must also post to their social media with the tags #NYC2KJingle and @nycmayor, to tell the world in a catchy and memorable way that the city will be offering free 2-K education in select neighborhoods in the fall. Once all the submissions are in on April 17, Cardi B will select five finalists, and New Yorkers will ultimately pick the winner.
