Jack White is headed back to Studio 8H on Saturday night for his sixth career performance on Saturday Night Live. Ahead of the appearance, he’s shared two brand new songs, “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” and “Derecho Demonico,” that he’s likely to play. The songs are available right now on streaming services and will drop tomorrow on vinyl at thirdmanrecords.com and Third Man shops in Nashville, Detroit, and London.

Jack Black is serving as the Saturday Night Live host for White’s episode. The two Jacks first teamed up back in 2019 when White produced the Tenacious D single “Don’t Blow it, Kage,” which was released on Third Man. They jokingly referred to the project as “Jack Gray.” And at least one fan confused the two very different men by sending a photo of Jack Black in his Mandalorian getup to Third Man Records, and requesting an autograph. “We received this letter to Jack Black at Third Man Records recently. I’m guessing somebody got their wires crossed,” White wrote in an Instagram post. “I’m debating what I should do, any ideas?”

The two Jacks both have long histories on Saturday Night Live. Jack White first appeared with the White Stripes on the October 19, 2002, episode hosted by John McCain. They played “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground” and “We’re Going to Be Friends.” He came back as a solo act in 2012, 2018, 2020, and 2023. The 2020 appearance came at the last minute when scheduled guest Morgan Wallen violated COVID protocols. White also took part in the SNL 40th and 50th anniversary celebrations.

Jack Black, meanwhile, hosted the show in 2002, 2003, and 2005 before returning last year to helm the show after a twenty-year gap. Saturday will be his fifth episode as host, meaning he’ll receive a green jacket and join the exclusive Five-Timers Club. If tradition holds, there will be a sketch where other members of the club make cameo appearances and present him with the jacket.

If there were a Five-Timers Club for musical acts, White would already be a member. Even without a green jacket, he’s hitting the road this summer for a series of largely overseas dates. It kicks off May 30 in Sigulda, Latvia, and wraps up September 20 at the Borderland Festival in East Aurora, New York.

Courtney Love to Dave Grohl: ‘Just Say We’re Cool’

Courtney Love sat down for a sprawling conversation with Billy Corgan that covered everything from their shared hate of Kim Gordon to Marlon Brando, who the Hole lead singer thought was her grandfather for years. Toward the end of the nearly two-hour chat, the topic turned to Love and Dave Grohl‘s extremely rocky relationship dating back to the Nirvana days when she dated (and married) the band’s frontman, the late Kurt Cobain.

When discussing fellow friends and musicians speaking ill of them in the media during Corgan’s podcast The Magnificent Others, Love brought up Grohl, who she appeared to make a truce with in 2014 when Nirvana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “Come out with it and just say we’re cool,” said Love, referencing Grohl. “Be man enough to man up, because you’re the Uberman. [You have] all the straight males and we’re cool, but you won’t say it because you’re afraid you’ll lose your audience. You’re afraid it’ll affect your relationship with literal Paul McCartney.” In 2014, Love criticized a 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit concert performance between the surviving members of Nirvana and Paul McCartney, saying (among other things) that she was not “not amused” by the Beatles member’s involvement.

Pete Hegseth Swiftly Lifts Suspension of Pilots Who Flew by Kid Rock’s House: ‘Carry on, Patriots’

Hollywood couldn’t have scripted it better: the conclusion to the drama of what will happen to the aircrew who flew army helicopters over Kid Rock’s Nashville home last weekend appears to have come to a fairly quick ending. The answer: Absolutely nothing. After the Army suspended the crew who allegedly flew military helicopters near Kid Rock’s residence, over which President Donald Trump weighed in (though he claimed he did not see the video footage of the incident that the rocker shared), Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has put an end to the drama. For now.

On Tuesday, following news that the Army had suspended the pilots involved, the defense secretary, in a hold-my-beer-moment, declared, “@USArmy pilots suspension LIFTED,” in a social media post in X, which for some reason also thanked Kid Rock. He added, “No punishment. No investigation. Carry on, patriots” and ended his post with an American flag emoji.

Taylor Swift Fans React to’Elizabeth Taylor’ Music Video: ‘Has to Be an April Fools’ Joke’

Taylor Swift’s new music video for “Elizabeth Taylor” has sparked a passionate response from Swifties. Some fans are crying their eyes violet over their disappointment, while others are begging critics to get a grip. Of course, all of the discourse is taking place on the lovely, totally non-toxic place that is the internet.

Swift surprise-dropped the visual for her latest The Life of a Showgirl single on Tuesday. The video is somewhat of a departure for the pop superstar in that she doesn’t actually star in it. Instead, Swift pays homage to Taylor with clips from the Hollywood icon’s classic films and archival footage of the A-list actress’ dazzling life in the spotlight. It’s a fitting visual complement to the dramatic track, which draws many parallels between both Taylors.

Judge Rejects Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner’s Request to Keep Sex Tape Settlement Private

A bid by Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, to seal portions of a 2023 settlement agreement with Ray J has been denied, according to a court document filed on March 30 and obtained by Rolling Stone.

The reality TV stars had filed a motion earlier this month arguing that publicly disclosing portions of the deal “would cause substantial harm to the Kardashians’ privacy interests and undermine the strong public policy interest in favor of settlement agreement.”
