Toronto rapper Casper TNG has signed with Universal Music Canada as his breakout single “The Market” continues to gain traction, now officially certified Gold in Canada.

The deal arrives as the track has grown from early fan momentum into one of the year’s defining breakout records in Canadian hip-hop. The label had already been working behind the scenes with Casper’s team in recent months, helping scale the record as it picked up pace.

“The Market,” featuring 100Bandplan, has pulled in over 8 million global streams and is rising to No. 61 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100. It has also landed on major playlists across Spotify and Apple Music, including Rap Life, Viral Hits and Hot Hits Canada.

The track has also taken off on TikTok, where it currently ranks as the No. 1 sound in Canada, generating over 58.9 million views. On YouTube, the official video has surpassed 2.5 million views, peaking at No. 1 on the platform’s trending chart and currently ranking among the top music videos in Canada.

For Universal Music Canada President and CEO Julie Adam, the appeal was immediate, pointing to both the track’s replay value and Casper’s artistic clarity.

A fixture in Toronto’s underground scene for over a decade, Casper has built a following through a melodic approach that draws from both rap and R&B, often rooted in personal experience. His 2025 EP One Helluvalife marked a turning point, with “The Market” emerging as its standout track.

That momentum has also translated beyond digital platforms, with digital out-of-home placements at Sankofa Square and integrations tied to Raptors coverage expanding the record’s reach.

"It’s been a rollercoaster of a journey, and I know there’s still a long way up,” Casper said in a statement. “I’m excited to see where this goes next, and I’m grateful for the team at Universal Music Canada for believing in my vision. I know great things will come from this partnership.”

With a gold-certified hit and a major label now behind him, Casper TNG is stepping into a bigger moment — one that’s been building for years.
