Producers of Québec's most popular dating reality show, Occupation Double, have confirmed that masked intruders made their way into on the show's villas this weekend. According to a statement, no one was hurt and the suspects were arrested, but the team is staying tight-lipped about more details.
Streaming nationwide on Crave, the dating show is currently filming its 20th season in the southwest of Panama.
Filmed over the course of several weeks, the competition sees a group of young men and women, kept in different villas, who must compete and conspire to find love and win the cash prize, cars and the house the winning couple is awarded.
In the night between last Thursday and Friday, a group of 3 armed individuals managed to sneak past security and make their way into the boys' villa. No details were given about what happened next, but a short altercation with some of the contestants ensued, before the production's security team and the national police intervened before anyone could be harmed.
The shooting of the show has started up again, and contestants can get help from the onsite psychologist should they need it, Productions J has said. “Following the incident, additional security measures were implemented in collaboration with the national police force to strengthen security at the site. The candidates also continue to receive ongoing support from the production team and the assigned psychologist.”
It is not clear whether the intruders had specifically targeted the house because they knew the show was being shot there, though it's highly unlikely robbers would knowingly walk into a house filled to the brim with state of the art automatic cameras that film nonstop.
