A wholesome moment between neighbors captured on video went viral and caught the attention of nearly 4 million viewers, including Taylor Swift.

Last month, an 8-year-old Swiftie named Madeline took notice of her next door neighbor Ethan Hayes, who spends his afternoons singing and playing his guitar. The moment was captured on video, which went viral on TikTok. Madeline’s mom, Natalie Hulec, told People that her daughter was too shy to ask Hayes directly for a special request, so instead devised a different way to reach him. With the help of her parents, she asked him to play a tune from Swift’s catalog via paper airplane, sent it over the fence, and got him to sing “Love Story.”

Swift caught wind of the clip and sent a special gift to Madeline and her next door neighbor. Swift sent the young girl a signed guitar and a handwritten note, telling her that the clip “brought the biggest smile to my face,” according to the outlet.

“I just wanted to let you know that it made me so happy that you asked your neighbor to play my song for you,” Swift wrote in her note to Madeline, which arrived alongside a signed Taylor Swift printed acoustic guitar. “You brought the biggest smile to my face. I’m sending you your own guitar in case you ever want to learn too!”

The TikTok currently has nearly 500,000 likes and 3.7 million views. “Pretty sure we hit the neighbor lottery,” her mom wrote in the TikTok’s caption.

For Hayes’ part, he said that the Fearless track is “one I always usually keep in my back pocket,” and added that he also received a guitar from Swift. “I was expecting maybe a signed poster or something. And then she sent us guitars, which is insane.”

Hayes also noted that the viral video has helped his music career. “I’ve gained thousands of followers, which is always really great,” he said. “We haven’t seen one single negative comment, which I think is really, really rare, just a really wholesome situation that I’m really grateful to be a part of.”

Canada's Biggest Music Rights Organization is Taking Suno to Court

The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) is taking its battle over artificial intelligence and copyright to court, announcing today it has filed a lawsuit against AI music company Suno Inc. over its alleged unauthorized use and reproduction of musical works represented by the Canadian performing rights organization.

In a statement Wednesday, SOCAN said it has identified Suno-generated outputs that are identical or similar to songs in its repertoire, notably songs by by artists like Avril Lavigne and Joni Mitchell. The organization says the lawsuit includes a sample of 150 publicly available Suno outputs that it believes infringe the performing rights attached to those works.

In a statement obtained by Rolling Stone, the lawyer for the family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez alleges the singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is concealing assets in companies he owns and through money he transferred to his mother, Colleen Burke. Steinfeld argues that the public should be angered that a platinum-selling artist is seeking publicly funded representation.

Jamaican producer Cleveland “Clevie” Browne and the Wycliffe “Steely” Johnson’s estate have been dealt a blow in a copyright case that opposed them to more than 150 different artists. The case centered around a sound called ‘dembow’, characteristic of reggaeton.

In July, lawyers for the artists asked the judge to reconsider a ruling a jury must determine whether roughly 1,800 reggaeton songs by more than 100 artists infringed the copyright to Cleveland “Clevie” Browne and the heirs of Wycliffe “Steely” Johnson’s 1989 song “Fish Market,” which the plaintiffs claim originated reggaeton’s defining dembow rhythm. Bad Bunny’s lawyers, later joined by attorneys for the other artists, asked the judge to reconsider, arguing that the allegedly protectable “Fish Market Elements” are merely a “pastiche” assembled from different parts of multiple songs.

The athlete didn’t spill too many details about what happened in the room, which was populated by guests including Brad Pitt, Paul McCartney, Conan O’Brien, Gigi Hadid, Lena Dunham, Zoë Kravitz, and more. “It’s a night we’ll never forget. Me and Taylor are so thankful for everybody that showed up,” he said. “From the vows to seeing everyone to how much fun we had throughout the entire evening, and hearing that kind of be relayed through everybody’s stories of the night, and it was just so magical, man.”
