Aaron Carter‘s mom is hoping her son will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Jane Carter Schneck launched a GoFundMe fundraiser on Wednesday “to secure a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame” for Carter, who died in 2022 at age 34. She is aiming to raise $85,000. Schneck told TMZ that the effort has the support of Carter’s brothers, Nick Carter and Angel Carter.

“The funds will cover the creation, installation, and long-term maintenance of the star,” Schneck wrote on the GoFundMe page. “We are coming together as fans, friends, and supporters to honor Aaron Carter’s legacy. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer. If you’re unable to give, sharing this campaign means just as much. Let’s come together to celebrate Aaron’s life, his music, and the lasting mark he left on so many hearts.”

A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame involves a nomination process via the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Each year, the committee selects 24 to 30 people for inclusion on the Walk of Fame. The criteria include “professional achievement, longevity in the category of five years or more, contributions to the community, and the guarantee that the celebrity will attend the dedication ceremony if selected. Posthumous awards require a two-year waiting period after death.”

The deadline for this year’s nominations is May 15. Schneck confirmed to TMZ that she plans to submit the application for Carter for that date. The application fee is $275. As of early Thursday morning, Schneck’s GoFundMe had raised $186.

Carter died from a drug-linked drowning. The singer was found dead in his bathtub by a housekeeper. According to his autopsy report, Carter “became incapacitated while in the bathtub due to the effects of inhaling compressed gas and taking alprazolam [Xanax]. This resulted in him becoming submerged under the water, unable to breathe, and ultimately led to his death.”

Carter released his self-titled solo album in 1997 at nine years old and secured a spot opening for his brother Nick’s Backstreet Boys, which made him an overnight global sensation. His sophomore album, the platinum-selling 2000’s Aaron’s Party (Come Get It), featured his biggest hits “I Want Candy” and the LP’s title track. Then, also a budding teen actor, Carter appeared on episodes of Lizzie McGuire and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.

Nine Inch Nails, Boys Noize Recorded Collab LP ‘in Studios, Hotels, Planes’ All Over

Nine Inch Nails‘ collaborations with Boys Noize began in 2024 when the German EDM producer remixed Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ Challengers soundtrack, and it blossomed last year when NIN made a short set of songs with Boys Noize a centerpiece of their Peel It Back tour. Now they’re releasing a unique, “purely electronic” full-length Nine Inch Noize album recorded “all over the place – some of it’s live, some in studios, hotels, planes, etc.,” according to Reznor, on Friday. The album is available to pre-save and preorder now.

“The creative fulfillment of working on the Challengers and Tron scores with Boys Noize led me to think that including him in the Peel It Back tour could be an interesting way to express NIN in more purely electronic terms live — a concept I’ve wanted to explore for some time,” Reznor said in a statement. “The result was so much fun for us we felt it was worth expanding and formalizing in some way.

Get Ready for Ticket Prices to Keep Rising

Get Ready for Ticket Prices to Keep Rising

Back in the Nineties, Pearl Jam famously sued Ticketmaster in an unsuccessful effort to rein in the runaway costs of attending a concert. These days, many are raising the same concerns — like Doc McGhee, Kiss’ longtime manager. In the late 1970s, when he was a young man on the rock scene, top concert tickets cost $10 to $11 (or about $50 to $55 in today’s dollars). Last year, according to Pollstar, the industry trade that monitors touring, the average ticket price had soared to around $132. That’s an increase of 38 percent just since 2019, when they cost a comparatively affordable $96.17. “It’s up to us,” McGhee says. “Until people say, ‘We’re not going,’ the prices are going up.”

This summer, that appears to be true. Entry to one of Harry Styles’ 30 dates at Madison Square Garden could cost you as much as $1,000; Alan Jackson’s sold-out touring finale at a Nashville stadium is prompting scalper prices of more than $5,000.

Kanye West Sued Over ‘Cowardly’ Restaurant Punch: ‘Not A Case of Mistaken Identity’

Kanye West is accused in a new lawsuit of sucker-punching a man at a Los Angeles restaurant — then beating the man as he lay unconscious on the concrete floor two years ago.

The plaintiff, suing as a John Doe over “credible security concerns” and to avoid “further reputational harm,” says he was sitting with his brother in the private venue’s outdoor garden when West, now known as Ye, allegedly blindsided him with a blow around 11 p.m. on April 16, 2024.
