Atsuko Chiba- Pope's Cocaine

Lorne Michaels Continues to Swerve Retirement Questions in New Doc Trailer

“I don’t think I would advise you to try and capture Lorne,” Paul Simon warns in the trailer for the upcoming Lorne Michaels documentary. “He wouldn’t be happy with that, and then you’ll capture a guy who’s not happy.”

He’s probably right, but Morgan Neville’s Lorne is happening anyway, in theaters April 17. The film traces Michaels’ rise from an ambitious Canadian to a legendary Saturday Night Live creator who’s still dodging those retirement questions — including in a dinner scene with Steve Martin.

The Terrifying New Era of American Imperialism

In 2017, I published a book called, Move Fast and Break Things: How Facebook, Google and Amazon Cornered Culture and Undermined Democracy. For the next year, I lived mostly in transit around the world — 50 cities, dozens of stages, endless conversations about how the tech empires had bent our culture out of shape, numbed public life, and hollowed out the foundations of democracy.

It was outside the United States, though, that the dissonance struck most deeply. I remember sitting on high-speed trains that glided so fast and silently they seemed to erase distance itself, watching wind farms cross the horizon like silent fleets. In country after country — places far smaller and, on paper, far poorer than ours — I kept asking the same question: how could they manage to build what we could not? Why did the richest nation on earth feel like it was living off the leftovers of its mid-twentieth century optimism?

Kanye West Malibu Mansion Trial: Tony Saxon Denies ‘A Most Heinous Fraud’

The construction worker suing Kanye West over the gutting of a $57 million Malibu mansion faced aggressive cross-examination Wednesday and repeatedly denied accusations he was trying to defraud the Grammy-winning artist now known as Ye.

“A most heinous fraud has occurred upon this court,” Ye’s lawyer, Andrew Cherkasky, argued while the jury was outside the courtroom. “I’m asking for this case to be tossed.”

Harvey Weinstein’s Rape Charge Retrial Scheduled for April

After a jury in a previous retrial failed to reach a verdict on a rape charge, Harvey Weinstein will begin another retrial on April 14, per The Hollywood Reporter. The Class E felony charge, which carries a maximum sentence of four years in New York, is related to accusations from the actress Jessica Mann.

In June 2025, a New York jury found Weinstein guilty on one count of a criminal sexual act during his retrial. He was also found not guilty on another count of a criminal sexual act. The rape charge resulted in a mistrial. In the initial 2020 case, Weinstein was convicted for one count of a felony sex crime and another for third-degree rape. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison. In 2024, an appeals court overturned the conviction.
