A tour bus carrying the members of Muna caught fire on the freeway in Burbank, California, on Monday. The scene was captured on camera by local station KTLA, which reported the incident shut down several lanes on the busy roadway.

The station said the driver reportedly did not realize the bus was on fire when the California Highway Patrol got a call at 8:00 a.m. about a flaming bus on the southbound 5 freeway. After the bus pulled over on an offramp, the Burbank Fire Department was able to put out the fire.

Muna shared a photo from KTLA’s coverage on their social media alongside a caption: “the band MUNA as seen on the news this morning.” The band said that “many personal items were lost but we’re all safe, thank goodness.”

In the comments section, musician Naomi McPherson wrote, “if anyone could help me find the grandchild of the warlock whose curse is wreaking havoc on my life so that i can carry em up the mountain & fulfill the prophecy / undo the curse that has befallen me that would be much appreciated.”

Back in September, Muna announced that McPherson, who plays guitar, synths, and sings in the band, would need to miss several tour dates to look after their mother, Harriet, who was in the terminal stages of a cancer battle. Muna also paid tribute to Harriet in the post, calling her “one of the greatest, most wise and loving people.”

McPherson is back on the road with Muna for their Gets So Hot Tour, which kicked off Sept. 25 in Philadelphia. The band has one more show at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre outside of Denver on Oct. 21 before heading to Europe for another month of concerts.

Sophia Stel’s Pop Ambitions Are Stronger Than Her Nerves

It’s a seasonally ambivalent day at Brooklyn’s Herbert Von King Park, and Vancouver-based singer and producer Sophia Stel is in need of a lighter. She’s smoking Canadian cigarettes, which, as I hand her a light blue Bic, she describes as “more polite,” taking after her fellow citizens’ pleasant disposition. She’s in town doing press ahead of her album release party this week. The record in question is called the greatest album of all time, and it feels like watching a shy kid blossom in front of a talent show crowd.

Stel first came onto the scene in 2024 with her debut EP, Object Permanence, though she says she’s made music since she was seven. For years, she psyched herself out of sharing what she was making. “It’s just so lame to be so afraid of what people think that you make all this music for years and never release it because you’re scared it’s not perfect or something,” she says. Releasing those first songs helped put the stakes in perspective: “If you drop a shitty EP, you’re going to be OK.”

Miley Cyrus Responds to Criticism of Hollywood Bowl Show: ‘I Am Fully Present’

Miley Cyrus addressed the criticism of her comeback show at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday night, calling out “clickbait” videos that accused her of not fully investing herself in the performance because she didn’t sing every word of the songs.

“I’ve never heard that I don’t put my heart into something,” she told the audience at her second Bowl concert on Sunday night. “I don’t know if any of you heard that,” she said of the criticism. “That somebody was doing commentary to get clickbait on their video talking about my show on Friday night, but I’m a lot of things and we’re not even going to entertain that.”

Review: Starlight Festival's Egyptian Debut Was Every Bit as Good as It Looked

There are few things that can prepare you for the sight of thousands of people dancing to electronic music with the Great Pyramids of Giza towering in the distance. Even fewer can prepare you for the production accompanying it. Over two nights in Egypt, I watched Starlight Festival unfold from practically every possible vantage point, from behind the decks and the thick of the general admission crowd to the VIP viewing stands and lounges. Each offered a different perspective, and remarkably, every single one was stellar. For a festival making its debut in one of the world's most extraordinary locations, that consistency was perhaps its greatest achievement.
