Knicks-Loving Celebrities React to Team’s First Championship in 53 Years

Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Mariska Hargitay and other Knicks-loving celebrities turned to social media Saturday night to celebrate the New York team’s first championship in 53 years.

While Knicks diehards like Timothee Chalamet, Ben Stiller, Spike Lee, and Tracy Morgan were in San Antonio to witness the team’s first title since 1973, many more famous fans watched on television and celebrated the Game 5 win from home.

“Congratulations to the New York Knickerbockers, NBA Champions!!!!!,” Jennifer Lopez wrote on social media alongside a video of her celebrating the win.

“I remember the last time the Knicks were making a run for the championship and rushing home every game day from the set to watch Ewing, Starks and Oakley make a hell of a run. We have all been waiting patiently for this day for years. Thank you for uniting our city again…for uniting the world. You restored faith, hope and belief in that there’s nothing we can’t do!! Hard work, goodness and teamwork pays off! You set the city on fire!!”

(Lopez might be mixing up the 1994 Knicks team that lost in the Finals with the Starks-and-Oakley-less 1999 team that also reached the championships, ultimately losing to the Spurs.)

Cardi B, who performed during halftime of Game 3, watched the championship-winning game on a cellphone in her basement. “We won!” she yelled around her house. “We fucking won!”

Hargitay, who attended the historic Game 4 comeback victory alongside Taylor Swift, posted a tribute to her friend and Finals MVP Jalen Brunson after the win: “And you lead the way for so many. Congratulations to you all and deepest thanks.”

(Brunson quipped in a postgame interview what his plans were after winning the title, “Try to get on SVU.”)

Jon Stewart, like thousands of New Yorkers, took to the streets to watch Game 5’s closing moments projected on the side of a building.

Chalamet, the Knicks’ most visible fan throughout their championship run, said on the Spurs court after the win, “Way rather this than the Oscars.” The actor and Stiller later made their way to the Knicks’ locker room for the champagne celebration.

Lil Wayne Wins $29,225 Judgment Against Security Guard Who Claimed Rapper Struck Him

A judge has ordered a security guard and his lawyer to pay Lil Wayne $29,225, plus the Grammy-winning musician’s legal fees, after their lawsuit accusing the “Lollipop” rapper of striking the man while holding a gun was thrown out.

According to a judgment signed Wednesday and obtained by Rolling Stone, plaintiff Christian Carlos and his lawyer are jointly liable for the monetary sanctions and legal costs after the court ruled in April that they repeatedly disobeyed orders. The judge subsequently terminated the lawsuit and scrapped a trial set for August.

The Best World Cup Songs — And the Ones You May Have Forgotten

Over the years, the songs that provide a soundtrack to the World Cup have become a significant part of the tournament, almost as important as the games. Some anthems have reached far beyond the field to offer a true moment of unity (“Cup of Life,” anyone?) As the 2026 games kick off, we surveyed all of the official FIFA songs and anthems (not soundtrack singles) since 1990, and highlighted the most inescapable bops, along with some that may have gotten lost to time. Check them out below.

For the 2006 tournament, held in Germany, European classical group Il Divo and R&B icon Toni Braxton leaned into their strengths as musicians with a ballad-like entry into World Cup anthems, switching up the format of hype-up tracks. Against the swell of an orchestra, their voices unite to sing about the “glory and the pain” of making it to the big game.

Model Jennifer An, who rose to prominence as a finalist on the 2009 season of America’s Next Top Model, is speaking out against Kanye West in a new interview with the BBC. In 2024, she filed a civil suit against the rapper describing how he allegedly choked her and used his fingers to simulate oral sex on her during a shoot for La Roux’s “In for the Kill” music video in 2010. The footage was not included in the final cut. “I feel like he was like trying to touch as much as he could,” she told the news network.
