Les Jonas Brothers, ambassadeurs de Stand Up to Cancer, ont offert une prestation surprise pendant la Série mondiale 2025, ce qui a fait réagir plusieurs amateurs de baseball sur les réseaux sociaux.


Samedi, les Blue Jays de Toronto et les Dodgers de Los Angeles s’affrontaient au Centre Rogers lors du deuxième match de la série. Après la cinquième manche, le jeu a été interrompu pour la traditionnelle séquence de Stand Up to Cancer, instaurée par la MLB en 2009. Ce moment invite les spectateurs à brandir des pancartes en hommage aux personnes touchées par le cancer, un geste auquel joueurs et partisans ont pris part.

Peu après, un annonceur a présenté les Jonas Brothers, qui ont interprété I Can’t Lose, une chanson «dédiée à tous ceux qui luttent contre le cancer». Joe Jonas a amorcé la performance en tenant une pancarte pour leur père, atteint d’un cancer du côlon en 2017. Le groupe a joué dans une section surélevée surplombant le terrain, entouré de spectateurs qui chantaient avec eux.

Si plusieurs ont applaudi le moment, d’autres ont dénoncé l’interruption du match. «Faites ça avant la partie, pas pendant la Série mondiale», a écrit un internaute, tandis qu’un autre a commenté: «C’est la Série mondiale, pas le match des étoiles», sous la vidéo de la MLB sur YouTube.

Sur Instagram, les critiques ont aussi fusé. «Idée terrible d’avoir un spectacle après un moment de silence pour les victimes du cancer, en plein milieu d’un match de la Série mondiale. Tellement inapproprié», a écrit une personne, alors qu’une autre parlait du «pire moment de la diffusion». Un commentaire plus nuancé suggérait: «Ils sont bons, mais faites ça avant le match. Ça casse complètement l’ambiance.»

Joe Jonas a réagi avec humour, écrivant «Why these guys?» («Pourquoi ces gars-là») sous la publication de la MLB. Malgré les critiques, sa réponse a recueilli des milliers de mentions «J’aime» et de nombreux messages de soutien. Après tout, leur présence prenait un sens particulier: leur père, Kevin Jonas Sr., est un survivant du cancer.
